Where do children have their mental, personal, emotional, and physical needs nurtured? Where will they learn to get along with others, to take safe risks, to deal with conflict in a constructive way that encourages them to be creative, to explore and discover, to learn by actively doing, to try-to foil and -- try again? In the camp community, I find what I intuitively know as a parent to be a positive, productive adult one needs the opportunity to truly experience childhood... . that is how one grows Our camp was born with the vision of bringing kids together from around the world, to work and play together in harmony and security. The founders felt that, as we move towards an increasingly, interconnected and global community, Ekocamp could help to prepare teen to play a positive role in this brave new world which they will soon inherit. |
 | To achieve this, we concentrate on skills training, with special emphasis on language, cultural understanding and tolerance. At the same time, it fosters a love for and familiarity with the world of nature. The ‘global village’ is already an integral part of our daily living. Whether it is the fruit we eat, the coffee we drink, the gas which powers our cars, or the splashy T-shirt on our back, our quality of life is increasingly interconnected with the health of a multitude of communities around the world. Language is the doorway to understanding the infinite variety of human cultures; understanding culture is the key to tolerance; working and playing together is the means through which culture and tolerance are given a human face and then extended through friendship. |
Many parents take advantage themselves of our location. The Laurentian Mountains are scattered throughout with pretty alpine villages. The Laurentians has become the preferred playground of Montrealers and their neighbors from all parts of eastern North America.
